Baby Ethan

SO my little man finally arrived February 3, 2012!!! I cant believe its over!! Finally I am able to snuggle and munch my last baby! I have been in heaven these last few days...I thought for sure it was going to be a lot harder than it has been with 6 kids....It has been so wonderful! Thanks to all the wonderful people bringing us food and of course my husband that does everything for me despite the nasty cold he has...

Well here is the crazy birth story of Ethan Matthew ...
Thursday feb 2nd Matt and I were watching a WW2 documentary around 11 pm...I started having those annoying braxton hicks..now I have been having them for over a month now and at first didnt think anything of it...at around midnight I told Matt that I better do some wash just incase this was gonna be real labor...they were still like braxton hicks...we went to bed at about 1:30 am...at about 2:20 am I woke up with a "normal" Stephanie contraction..so I new it was starting...so I got out of bed so I could deal with them alone so Matt could sleep...(now just to let you know, I usually go into labor at night and go to the hospital at about 4 or 5 am with contractions about 5 minutes apart, and when I get to there I am usually a 3 or 3plus and will get the love of my life (EPIDURAL) and then I will not have the baby till like 2 or 5 pm)...anyway...I went down stairs and hoped on the computer and told my dad that he might get his wish of me having this baby today because it would be more convenient for everyone,,( I was going to get induced on Sunday feb 5th) ...and just surfed the web for a bit...with contractions still not so bad,,,,I was determined to stay home for most of my laboring and send the kids off to school and have my mom come over about 9am so when I got to the hospital I would be like a 5 maybe and then would not have to be in the hospital bed forever! ..Anyway I decided to lay on the couch at about 3:30 to get some rest, the contractions were about 5-6 min apart...now would be the time I would leave to the hospital lol....I was kinda going in and out of sleep when about 4:30 came and they were a little harder and a little closer together...I decided I would go shower and have my mom come over at 6am cause I just didnt want to deal with the pain anymore...I WANTED my epidural! I know slacker!! But I believe that I was placed on this earth at this time with the wonderful meds so WHY not use them!! anyway, as soon as I hoped in the shower OH MAN those contractions started coming HARD Now I thought it was all in my head...I thought I was just working myself up cause I was so excited that the baby was coming on a more "convenient" day haha! So my 5 min shower turned into 10 cause I had to pretty much "breath" through every contraction...but they were still not TOO bad...I mean when its "real" labor they HURT right?!! so I got out and Matt said, "Are you okay?, you in labor?".. I just laughed at him and said I told you it was gonna happen tonight, but go back to sleep cause I have to still do my hair...haha! ...he was like NO way im not going back to sleep..As I was getting dressed the contractions a few times brought me to tears and I told matt nope I do not have time to do my hair, we dont have time to get the kids to school, we need to go NOW! So I called my mom and started throwing things in a suitcase as quick as I could between contractions...I have never had to deal with contractions on my hands and knees before but thats the only way they felt bearable...my mom got to our house at about 6am..and we were off with my sopping wet hair! haha!! (I hate going ANYWHERE with my hair not at least blow dried!) Matt was cruising to the hospital of course trying to avoid any bumps as I was crying telling him I need the epidural now!! I told him I sure hope I am not a 3!!! cause these HURT!! He thought for sure we were going to have the baby in the car.,I just laughed at him and advised him that I always take at least 12 hours before baby comes when labor starts....I just didnt want to be sent home!
We got to the hospital and the lady at the desk started asking me all these stupid questions when a contraction hit hard and I just collapsed and started crying as I was trying to give her the name of the pediatrician I had picked out haha! So she asked Matt how many pregnancies this was for me and he told her 7 so she started freaking out and snapping at some nurses to get me in a room to check me...I told them Its okay im probably just a 3 I think Its just in my head how hard the contractions were...so they took me to a room and told me to strip down and put the gown on...um I was like right here in the middle of the room, or in the bathroom..the nurse said NOPE we dont mess around when its been this many babies for you! HA! so I striped the clothes off put the gown on and she checked me and said Oh honey you are almost a 9!! she told the other nurse to get a table ready for the doctor and I just started crying! I NEEDED MY EPIDURAL WHAT THE HECK!! Im suppose to have till at least 2 pm!! it was only like 630am!! The nurse told me once they popped my water she was sure the baby would be here quick, I could get an epidural if I want but she thinks its too late...WELL I told her I guess if the pains were only gonna be this bad I could totally handle them (NOT thinking about the whole pushing part!) so I decided to go medicine free...the Dr.came in popped my water and told me my baby was posterior..NICE I thought! So I had to lay side ways in a very awkward position to I guess turn the baby..The nurse was super awesome at coaching me with my breathing cause Matt had NO IDEA what the heck to do LOL he was SOOO shocked that I decided against the epidural...so then I of course felt like pushing and TOTALLY changed my mind about it and told them NO WAY it hurts wayyyyyyy tooooo bad but of course it was too late..so screaming, crying and shouting and 6 pushes out came my B*E*A*U*T*I*F*U*L baby boy!! A BOY!!! WAHOOOOOO!!!! And as soon as he came out the pain was GONE!! oh man I have NEVER felt sooo good after having a baby like I did!..It was great...Little man was born at 7:17 am...and weighed 8 pounds and 20.5 inches! my biggest and tallest baby!! AND SOOOO cute!!! My mother in law came about 20 minutes after he was born, she was suppose to be there for the birth but of course my fault thinking I had all day for her to get there we didnt tell her to come till obviously it was too late...oh man I felt so bad that she was not there but it was sooo fun to have her there right after..I mean she probably wouldnt want to see me as a crazy lady anyway haha!! Anyway, we love him and feel sooo BLESSED to have him in our lives...we thank our Heavenly Father every day for his sweet spirit and safe arrival...Babies are sooo FUN!!!!

Diapercake

Im not sure if I have ever posted on here some of the different diaper cakes I have made, but here is my latest one.... I decided to do a hairbow cake instead of toys and knickknacks on it....I think it turned out sooooo flippen cute!! And my friend LOVED it!
Anyway I just found all the hairclip bows at walmart and then the flowers on top are headband bows. I then had a bag of pink confetti stuff downstairs that I threw on it to give it some pizazz! This picture definitely does not do it justice! And of course here is a picture of Izzy and I.

Baby

Today I had my first "check" check up with my O.B....blee! The good news was that the baby turned on its own so its finally head down! YEAH! (my prayers were answered!) The bad news (for me) I am only dilated to a 1plus..and only 55% effaced..what the!! I am always at least a 3 and 70% by now!! I just think this baby wants to see how fat I can get haha!!I scheduled my induction for Feb 5th so at least I will be 1 week early...I dont have as much FMLA at work to use so I have to be induced and it would be nice to not have matt miss any school or work for the birth. Anyway I am really excited to meet our little one soon! woot!! and of course excited to not have swollen legs, feet and face! This age thing is really taking a toll on me! I do NOT see how woman can have babies in their fortys! NO WAY!! My kids are all getting REALLY excited to find out what we are having! Parker just KNOWS its a girl..(poor guy has stopped hoping for a brother) and all the girls just KNOW its a boy!! haha! it will be so fun to see!
Isabelle had her ear surgery yesterday and did sooo well!! I couldnt believe it! ALL my girls when they have woken up from surgery just cry...but NOT izzy! The nurses couldnt believe how good she was...all until we were about to leave and I had to put the hospital toy down that she had been playing with. Then the screaming and craziness began!! Oh man I have never seen her so out of control...I felt so bad! :( ...she bit Matt on the face on the way out of the hospital and drew blood...she scratched him and was just screaming...It was for sure the anesthesia that was making her act this way...on the way home she screamed at the top of her lungs, bit herself 4 times and was spitting (seemed like foaming at the mouth) and trying to get out of her carseat...It was the longest drive home ever!! Once we got home she immediately calmed down when we got her a sippy cup of milk and has been AWESOME ever since!! Phew!!

Journal Jars

So my awesome Mother In Law has started something new with my children this past week..She bought them each a binder filled with some lined paper, a cool mechanical pencil and a little container filled with little strips of paper with a question on them. What some of you call a journal jar most of you have probably done something like this as a kid or even a family night lesson. Anyway, she told them that she wants them to glue the question on the top of a page and then fill the whole sheet of paper with the answer to that question! They can add pictures if they want on the back side of the page too.. When they are done with the questions then they get to call her and come over to refill their jars and get more paper to fill out..AND they get to pick from this jar that has different things they get to do with Grandma, like go out for an icecream or have a sleep over or a simple grandma treat!! HOW FUN is that! And then what she is going to do with the papers they fill out is put them in a separate binder and give that to the kids as a wedding gift!!! How Awesome!! I personally think its WAY to much work, but she is really into family history stuff and wants us to all preserve our memories! And Im thinking it will get the kids into the habit of keeping a journal.
So of course we came home and it only took the kids 1 whole day to fill out each one of their questions lol! they LOVE doing things with Grandma so of course they are going to fill out as many as they can haha! I told her she should probably just let them pick out of her jar maybe once a week! she is CRAZY! So she will be coming over to our house tomorrow to refill the kids questions..they are stoked! I will have to try to get some pictures of them and post...I think its a great idea and I think it will be sooo fun to get a big book of stories that you wrote when you were a kid to share with your own children! Im very surprised at how much each one of them wrote! It was fun for me to read them too to get to know my kids more! Love ya mom!

Shout out to the Husband

I also want to update on how my fabulous Husband is doing with school..
He has recently decided to apply for the Pharmacy program at the UofU (gag I know, but if Byu had a program we would go there!) anyway that means 1 more year to add on of prereq classes and then of course it is a 4 year program instead of the 3 year that we were going to go to...so all in all he will have about 6 more years of school before he graduates...yeah...right...
He is doing AMAZING though,,,,he some how manages to get A's and B's in all his classes, take care of 5 kids (soon 6) while he is doing homework (while I am at work), works at the pharmacy and is the Young Mens President in our ward...he is truly amazing! I am so proud of him and thankful for him!
He has recently started working more at the pharmacy as well so I can cut my hours back at work to just 30 a week..it has been real hard to do the full time thing with this pregnancy and all the other household responsibilities and the kids...So again what an amazing guy! Thanks sweety!
At the end of every semester we have been taking the kids to a resturant to celebrate Matts progress! This last semester we took them to Ihop,So fun! The kids love it and I think its really good for them to see how important we think school is. Hopefully each one of them will go to college right out of Highschool!...

More ear troubles

I think it would be fair to now say that there is something WRONG with my girls ears...Isabelle is scheduled to go into surgery for ear tubes this Monday the 16th...I was hoping I would be in the clear with her but of course she had to start getting ear infections the month she turned 2! ugh! So if this next baby comes out a girl it will be real interesting to see if she will need tubes too haha!
Sammantha got tubes when she was 6 months old, Aubrey got them at 6 months and 2 years and Haven got them at almost 3 years old...and of course my ONLY son has never had an ear infection haha! Dang explain that one to me please! Anyway, I am really excited to have Big baby get them cause she has been so unhappy since October...
I am getting really excited to meet our new little one...it has only takin me 8 months to finally get super excited! My little sister Jessica had her baby a few weeks ago and I think that just REALLY made me baby hungry, and not just any baby hungry but hungry for a baby boy...her little guy is sooo stinkin CUTE!! oh AND my sister in law had a little boy a couple months ago too! DANG I sure hope I get another little man! wouldnt that be so fun to see what another boy would look like in my family! :) ...And it would be soo nice for Parker to have a brother..even though they will be almost 9 years apart lol....anyway im not holding my breath though cause im sure Heavenly Father is going to give me another girl...This pregnancy has been quit the roller coaster! I was soooo super sick for about 6 weeks at the beginning and now I am so large that I feel like my whole body is going to break...I am so glad this will be my last pregnancy! I am super thrilled that I have my 6 kids before I turn 31!~ the goal was to be done at 30 woot!!! I feel so blessed to have all my kids in my life! Each one has such a unique spirit and brings so many different things into my family, I couldnt imagine life without them!

Holidays

It's that time of year again!! YEAH!! We made our annual Gingerbread houses (out of graham crackers) with my inlaws this past friday...SO FUN! I think this has been the first year that I felt like I knew what I was doing....The kids all did so awesome too! Big Baby just ate the candy and didnt really show an interest in wanting to do one (phew!)so just the older kids did one...we yet have decided where to put them. We are really excited for Christmas this year! We are going to start a few new traditions with the kids.. The first one is to go to Thanksgiving Point for the lights and maybe a carriage ride... the second I want to start is sleeping under (or right by) the christmas tree, reading books on Christs birth and other christmas stories a few days before christmas. Every year we have always gone to see the lights at Temple square as well, but this year we are going to start taking our own hot chocolate to walk around with.. (because my family is getting so large!)...It hasnt snowed too much yet this year but we love to go sledding when it does..so that I think will always be one of our traditions as well!...maybe not for me though this year because of this massive belly I have :)
