Journal Jars

So my awesome Mother In Law has started something new with my children this past week..She bought them each a binder filled with some lined paper, a cool mechanical pencil and a little container filled with little strips of paper with a question on them. What some of you call a journal jar most of you have probably done something like this as a kid or even a family night lesson. Anyway, she told them that she wants them to glue the question on the top of a page and then fill the whole sheet of paper with the answer to that question! They can add pictures if they want on the back side of the page too.. When they are done with the questions then they get to call her and come over to refill their jars and get more paper to fill out..AND they get to pick from this jar that has different things they get to do with Grandma, like go out for an icecream or have a sleep over or a simple grandma treat!! HOW FUN is that! And then what she is going to do with the papers they fill out is put them in a separate binder and give that to the kids as a wedding gift!!! How Awesome!! I personally think its WAY to much work, but she is really into family history stuff and wants us to all preserve our memories! And Im thinking it will get the kids into the habit of keeping a journal.
So of course we came home and it only took the kids 1 whole day to fill out each one of their questions lol! they LOVE doing things with Grandma so of course they are going to fill out as many as they can haha! I told her she should probably just let them pick out of her jar maybe once a week! she is CRAZY! So she will be coming over to our house tomorrow to refill the kids questions..they are stoked! I will have to try to get some pictures of them and post...I think its a great idea and I think it will be sooo fun to get a big book of stories that you wrote when you were a kid to share with your own children! Im very surprised at how much each one of them wrote! It was fun for me to read them too to get to know my kids more! Love ya mom!
